e-Library

The NHS Scotland e-Library aims to empower NHS Scotland staff and benefit patient care by providing high quality knowledge support throughout the patient journey. It is the primary vehicle for delivery of NHS Education's national strategy for NHS Scotland Knowledge Services Exploiting the Power of Knowledge in NHS Scotland.

Since its inception in January 2003, the NHS Scotland e-Library has earned a reputation as a comprehensive provider of high quality knowledge content, including:

  • 4000 + fulltext electronic journals
  • 1000's of electronic books
  • 100 + databases of journal articles
  • 2000 + Scottish Executive policy documents
  • 20,000 + systematic reviews, guidelines and other evidence-based practice resources from the TRIP (Turning Research into Practice) database
  • 700 + health information Websites, identified and evaluated by the e-Library and Managed Knowledge Networks Teams, with clinician input where appropriate.
  • 20,000 + evaluated health and social care Websites from the Resource Discovery Network (RDN)
  • The Health Scotland Database of Voluntary and Support Groups
