A Critical Review of the Literature on Children and Young People’s Views of the Factors that Influence their Mental Health, 2009

A review was commissioned to examine what children and young people themselves perceive to be important in affecting their mental health (mental health problems and mental wellbeing) for good or ill. This was undertaken in the form of a systematic review of both published peer-reviewed and ‘grey’ literature since 1999. The review by researchers at the Universities of Teesside and Aberdeen has now been completed and the findings are informing the indicators work.

Children and Young People's Mental Health Indicators: Background Briefing, 2009
The children and young people’s work will build on the work already undertaken by NHS Health Scotland to develop a core set of national indicators for adult mental health. These provide a means of assessing and monitoring mental health and its context for Scotland’s adult population nationally over time. NHS Health Scotland is now working to establish a similar set of mental health indicators for children and young people in line with the TAMFS commitment. This paper sets out the background and early progress for this three year work programme.
