FIN-LAN COLLABORATION
Visit to Lanarkshire from Mental Health Improvement and
Mental Health Service Colleagues from Finland 16th - 21st October 2009
In October 2009 (16th-21st), NHS Lanarkshire, North Lanarkshire Council, South Lanarkshire Council and the Lanarkshire Recovery Network played host to a delegation of Visitors from Finland. Visitors included Dr Eija Stengard from the National Institute for Health and Welfare in Finland, Dr Antero Las, Psychiatrist and Psychiatric lead at the Hospital District of South Ostrobothnia and Minna Laitila, nurse and leader of Ostrobothnia Project. The visit included the opportunity to participate in the Scottish Mental Health Arts and Film Festival, a multi-agency round table seminar where partners shared the Lanarkshire and Finnish experience and site visits to the Lanarkshire Recovery Network, Caird House Rehabilitation Centre, Monklands Hospital Mental Health In-patient Wards and Coatbridge Mental Health and Addiction Community Services.
The visit cumulated in the signing of three year collaboration at a reception dinner on 20th October 2009.

On the morning of our visitors departure (21st October) representatives of the organising committee met with our visitors to debrief and set out the initial actions which build on the visit and lay the foundations for the three year collaboration.
