Making Local Progress

The Lanarkshire Joint Implementation Plan was submitted to the Scottish Executive on 31st March 2004 as required. This broadly sets out how NHS Lanarkshire in conjunction with North and South Lanarkshire Councils and other partners intended to jointly ensure that services will be ready to meet the requirements of the new Act. On-going implementation and development around the Act is being managed within the existing planning structures of NHS Lanarkshire, North Lanarkshire Council and South Lanarkshire Council. The partnerships are focussing on making sure that:

  • The appropriate systems and services are in place to meet the requirements of the Act.

  • The Lanarkshire workforce understands and embraces the principles of the new act and understand their roles, responsibilities and duties.

  • People who have mental health care needs, their carers and their named person understand what their rights are and know how to exercise them, or know how to get support to exercise them.
